Opus 34 (2017) – Fantasy Concerto for Piano and Electronics

Program Notes

The Fantasy Concerto consists of two movements and begins by painting a picture of a fairie sleeping in a forest. The motivic elements from the first movement are modified to form the lively material in the second movement which depicts an energetic, elvish dance under the stars. This piece, specifically the second movement, is characteristic of postminimalism, in that minimalistic elements are central but departs from traditional minimalism with dynamic climaxes and non-linear development.
